California Dreamers

Challenge | Transform a poster inspired by the song California Dreamin’ by the 1960s group The Mamas and the Papas into a modern day concert tour poster for the cover band the California Dreamers.

Solution | I took the original psychedelic, hand-drawn type and enclosed it within an emblem. Drawing on the dreams of sun and beach, I applied a halftone texture to an image of a beach and overlaid it through a series of layers with a vectorized wave. Using the emblem as the sun, I experimented with the transparency of the wave and how it interacted with the text.
